    Does anyone know why the Health variable isn't saving? The gold and silver saves, but not the Health float.

      Not sure what you are talking about. It is demonstrated in the tutorial showing that it is saving health. If it is not saving for you, then you missed some part.

      It is the same principle. Only having both players move around a selection and when both are confirmed, move onward.

      Make sure you didn't miss anything, as you can see in the tutorial, that works fine in the tutorial.

But as stated before I did my best to replicate exactly what you did and still didnt get any results. spent like 3 hours trying to trouble shoot it. Any ideas of settings or node that could be conflicting? Also when i PIE it has no hitbox even though its setup

      @@bigpaps7696 If you want to make sure to get the same result, you should follow the steps exactly but also use teh same version of UE as the tutorial. Since some detail or whole functionality can be changed in a later version which a tutorial can not predict.

    Hello, i start U5 today and i want to try something like a rpg. I want to use a curve to create my level progression like x for level and y for atk, but it seems that all curves are stuck on time for the x axis. I know that you say "they should hopefully know topic B and C which are prerequisites to learn topic A. " but for me the level curve is the core of the game so i need to create it at the begining :) if you can just tell me if i can create a curve and choose something else than time, it will be really helpful :) thx

      You can create curves for other things than time, like levels. I would recommend my Create an RPG series then since it has level curve as part of it.

    If anyone watching this had trouble adding the 'add child to overlay' node towards the end, try changing the order the children(siblings) are put in in the designer of the widget. It seems to want to be at the bottom of the list for some reason.

    Great Video once again, years later and they're still relvant for 5.4 I didn't add a value in the timers for periodic and duration in the structure, when I went back and added them at the point of testing, I found I had to delete and re-add the 'StatusAffectInfo' variable for the new values to save. This could be troublesome later on with a few more timers, is there a way you know of off the top of your head that can ensure we don't have to delete and rebuild variables?

      When it comes to structures, don't move variables around. Always add to the end. Always make sure to compile after each change. Things like that help.

    Thankyou @LeafBranchGames for this tutorial it helped me so much i couldnt find anyone who explained how to add animations to the second jump. there is one problem im not sure how to fix. I am using UE5.4.3 and every thing is working execept if i wait to long for the second jump the player character jumps but the second animation doesnt play is there a way to fix this? this only happens if i wait to long

    Hi, I followed your tutorial to add a charged attack to my project... is there a way to create a combo that has the charged attack as the initial attack? I'm trying but I'm having a lot of difficulty

      Everything is possible. You might want to expand on the system and allow for staying in a certain state as a cahrge before moving to another state as the release.

    I am dying D,: everything went smoothly for me with cards appearing when I click the add card button, but even after running though the tutorial 3 full times and double checking every connection, the cards’ x value does not change after adding multiple cards. They continue to stack on top of themselves. Does anyone have any advice of what to check? I’m 99.99% sure I did exactly what the video says and triple checked! Is there some weird setting I might have ticked or something? Any help would save me I am crumbling haha.. save me

      Unfortunately the truth is you have missed something in the tutorial. Best way to find out what would be if you debug the code flow and make sure all the values are what you expect them at each step.

    I'm just getting started with UE5. I know this is not a beginner tutorial. But I'm the type that thrives by jumping in the deep end. And, honestly, the way you explain things, combined with the bite-sized format of the videos makes it fairly easy to follow what you're doing. Granted, later videos may lose me. We'll see how it goes.

    I understand why hard references can be a problem. But I guess I'm too new at all of this to understand exactly what you're doing to get around them. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually. I do get the idea that starting with the default project in UE5 is probably not the best option. One thing I've never seen covered in any video on this subject is why you would ever use hard references at all. Are they just for things like loading props into a scene? Hard references for things you know will be required, soft references for things that *may* be used?

      Here's a example: in your game you have a chair with which the character will interact, and your game is in an open world and you're somewhere in the desert, and this silly chair will be loaded into memory(because of hard reference) even though you don't need it at all. There was something silly like this in Pubg when chair was rendered from miles away.

    Thanks. I have an equip/unequip function that is integrated with theway my weapons are updated or discarded in my inventory, i tried doing delay nodes to delay and check if indeed the item is valid during swapping and this delay node behaves differently in editor which is ok but is way different upon packaging hehe thanks for this

    Hi ! I also struggled with the opacity render because as the author said UE5 change the way event are triggered. The event on drag cancelled is only trigger if the position where you want to replace your card is not your hand. If it's in your hand the event is not trigger as the movement hasn't been cancelled but in fact succeeded. So the only things u need to do is to set the render opacity in your widget Cardhand to 1 using the function On Drop and your CurrentlyDraggedCard variable. Becareful to use the function ''Set render Opacity'' and not the ''SET'' u use previously in function On Drag Detected of W_Card. Thank you LeafBranchGame for this amazing tutorial

    hey, i wanted to make add a health/damage system to this, but it somehow didnt work. as in i made the damage system and the respawn system, but cant seem to mash these 2 together. like when it dies it loses health, then respawns on last checkpoint until health is 0 then its game over

    For just animations it's great, but what about the Sockets when using runtime retargeting. Socketed weapons and items seem to just float around.

    I gotta say, it's fun going through all the functions and throwing in Print String triggers to watch all the functionality happen in real time! Going through the series in UE5 right now and I'm enjoying learning more advanced techniques and actually learning how it all works instead of just following along with a paint-by-numbers tutorial like other Unreal RUclipsrs. You know the ones.

    Hello great video! At 12:30 you said Get Controller Pawn>Get Actor Location Node will change the vector value that's returned to the Lerp node because the actual character is moving and the Get Actor Location node is being called repeatedly everytime lerp is called. So Get Actor Location keeps being called and keeps getting the new location that the character has moved to. Pure functions get called when their output pin values are required. So as you said we don't need vector values of where the actor is at but just the original vector location. This is right? I think I get it XD! Thanks that last part took me an extra 10 mins lol :C

    I have no idea why I've got everything set up the way you do and I can't get the widget button to respond in world, I can hover over the button and see the hover state in the editor but my debug line doesn't return the print string from button push. It doesn't even pick up my hovering over it.. Where should I look?

      Immunity is coded to prevent applications, not end existing ones.

      Depends on the animation. For the ones I have used, I use the same approach.
